Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and the Encouraging Diversity, Growth and Equity (EDGE) programs are both State of Ohio initiatives focused on assisting disadvantaged and local business.
MBE certification is limited to member of four statutorily designated racial groups: African American, Asian, Hispanic, and Native American). The State's goal is 15% of purchases of goods and services.
EDGE certification is open to any Ohio-based small business that has been certified as socially and economically disadvantaged. The State's goal: 5% of purchases of supplies and services, professional services, information technology services, construction and professional design services.
